I Have a 2007 passat tdi 1896cc and have removed the timing belt, however some how I managed to move the crankshaft and have lost TDC is there a way of locating it on the crankshaft

There should be a plug or window on top of the transmission that lets you view the flywheel. Rotate the flywheel until you see the TDC stamp. It should look something like this:
