There was a loose hose, I finally had time to get to it today, runs better today.

It wasn't open, but it was not tight on either. I had to raise the car to find it and then fixed it, running well now!

It is surprising how much oil was in the intercooler too, I was expecting it to be dry and clean inside.

Good to hear!

It's normal for a little oil to be in the intercooler. Diesels have a lot of blowby and it pressurizes the engine insides (crankcase). An oil mist will collect in the low spot (intercooler).

Yes, but it's constantly getting dirty from the inside. This is normal. You would be better off makins sure the outside is clean, no leaves or garbage bags blocking airflow.

That is normal.

Could it be better if it was clean on the inside - yes.

Could it be better if the fins aren't bent and the end tanks were metal instead of plastic? yes.

As long as it isn't pouring out, it is normal.
