This is a fault I have been seeing in many scans on various forums but there are no solutions offered.
A search has returned zero results. Is this something that has no significance and can just be cleared or is there a problem with the climate controls?
This is a scan from my 2012 Jetta:

1 Fault Found:
01317 - Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285)
013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00101101
Fault Priority: 6
Fault Frequency: 2
Reset counter: 53
Mileage: 29643 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2010.14.29
Time: 03:36:42

That fault has a Fault Priority: 6 which means The fault has a long term influence on drivability. Fault Code Screen

VAG Error Code: 01317

Fault Location:
Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285) - Check DTC Memory

Possible Cause:
Fault(s) stored in Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285).

Possible Solutions:
Check Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285) for Fault Codes.

Special Notes:
Control Module in Instrument Cluster (J285) stored a Code which influences other Control Modules Functionality.

I am curious if it turned out to be anything? My A/C is acting funny...taking a long time to cool down and only gets to 40 -45 degrees. I checked the VCDS and I am getting the same code:

Hello, im having simular problems with my 06 1.9 tdi a/c not working, has freon just dont blow cold air and fans not running, rechecked a/c charge and its good, checked fuses and relays nothing to say is wrong, put a scanner on it got code01317 and im getting no communication from ecu n which i get the same communication that nvolves my steering and such. Car has sat around for a period of time cse of engine being blowed. My main thing right now is the a/c to work. Any ideas wld b helpful
