seems to be some incorrect information on EUH final drive gear ratios floating around even in the bentley.....4.23 is not the correct ratio ....3.38 is ...4.23 is a common ratio for gasser 02J transmissions ....for example at 70 mph with 4.23 final and .744 fifth with 195/65 15 tire (factory on mkiv pd) your rpm would be a whopping 2964 rpm ....is anyone reporting this incredible rpm @ 70 in their MKIV PD's ? ....more in line is an rpm around 2400 @ 70 mph....with the PD equipped mark 4

Must be a typo, who is still using 195/65 :) Oversized tires helped reduce rpm. I've heard of a gasser transmission incorrectly installed at the factory:eek

fifth is the only gear that is different between ALH and PD MKIV 02J ...and only slightly at that

Are you sure? My reference shows that final drive and 1st are the only gears that are the same between the DQY/EBJ/EGR and the EUH...
