MY 2006 Jetta BRM with DSG Tran has54,000 miles began suffering black smoke, no power, and a lit "Emission Workshop" on dash computer warning. The car barely moves from a stop and then slowly builds up speed. Someone suggested from an earlier post that it could be my catalytic converter. Would this show up as such on aVCDS scan? As you can tell, I'm clueless. Thanks
There is no backpressure sensor that could tell you if it was the cat. It's possible that it has failed and is blocked but it would be unusual for it to fail at all and at such a low mileage. If it failed, something else caused it to fail.
Drive slowly sorry, I couldn't resist, to your local autozone or advance auto and get the error codes before chasing this. Many things could be causing it.
Going to to just that this morning. And, thanks for taking the time to provide some addvice.
