Is there a way to safely disable EGR Valve or reduce it's duty cycle in Jetta 2004 BEW Engine? I'm concerned with the intake being cloged up by the carbon deposits. I have VW Golf 03 and Jetta 04 and the golf had a problem were the Intake bypas flap for EGR Valve was getting stuck closed due to heavy carbon deposits. Thanks for any info.

Chip. If you block it off it sets a CEL. I believe that some pumpe duse engines, not sure if the BEW is one of them, will run well if you fool with it because the car's computer senses something is wrong. I could be wrong about that but either way, the only way to disable it and not get a CEL is a chip tune which deletes it.

Disable - just make a block off plate of thin metal on the port. Disable without setting a code - you have to get a chip.
