I was at the dealer today to finalize pricing on a new TDI (MT) when the salesman mentioned he had a demo. I didn't even want to see it when he told me it was the DSG tranny but he insisted I try it. Well I have to say I am seriously perplexed on which to buy now, I was really pleasantly surprised.
I want to make a decision tomorrow but here are my options to consider:
1. What is the reliability of the DSG (this new technology scares me a bit)
2. I've heard it costs a small fortune for maintenance on the DSG, is this true or just a myth?
3. Has anyone so far regreted buying the DSG over the MT?

If all that isn't enough I also have to consider pricing. The new MT is exactly the same price as the demo with the DSG, however the DSG has 15000km on it but it comes with winter tires as well as the summers which are brand new. Both are the comfortline with the audio upgrade. The demo will have a 120k 6/year warranty for an extra $750.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Purchased my 2010 Jetta TDI w/DSG in November, no regrets.

I have read where maintenance is approx $450.00 every 40k. Coming from a Lexus IS350 I spent that much at every 10k, so for me the additional maintenance costs are still a bargain.
