2006 Jetta with finicky immobilizer. I can't figure out the pattern for when its going to get triggered. I have two new keys because the dealership 'diagnosed' the problem as the keys, but clearly that isn't the case. On a few occasions I have gotten the system cleared by unplugging the battery or by leaving the key in the ignition in the AC on position for long periods of time. I would really like to permanently delete the immobilizer. I would much rather have some one steal this beast than constantly have to take cabs and have it towed.

LOL...good point. You have insurance right :)

You need chip tuning to completely delete the immobilizer. They might do it for cheaper if it's just an immobilizer delete vs. power tuning. Take a look in the basic power upgrades FAQ for a quick list of chip tuners.

Do you have VCDS? You could monitor chip status in the measuring blocks. See the immobilizer FAQ article for details on how to do this.
