Hi,
I have a low mileage 2012 Golf TDI that I rarely drive (1 mile a day, and 5 miles on a Friday all at low speeds, total 50K at this point).

I now only have codes P0401 - EGR FLOW INSUFFICIENT AND P2002 PARTICULATE TRAP BANK 1 EFFICIENCY . Dealer says I need new DPF after finger swipe test in DPF and heavy soot build up. Snow flap found OK.

1. Could it just be my driving style causing build up....which I can now just drive on the freeway for 30 minutes to burnt off, then go in and clear the codes?

2. Could this be a cracked flexible hose that leads to the EGR or DPF sensors? A possibly 'simple and cheap ' replacement?

3. Or is this really a need to swap out the entire DPF at $3500? Or delete it?

My hope is that the car still has too few miles to really need a new DPF.

before you spend 3.5k there is a DPF cleaner on ebay that works really well, make sure the car is cold, remove the oxygen sensor, use one whole bottle turn on the car till gets 190, it will be a lot smog do not get scare, drove the car for 60 miles in sport mode till it regen if that works you will save a lot money,
I remove the EGR the pipe was coming from the EGR colling was clogged, I use break cleaner for that.
