It may be stupid question, but can I replace DMF without taking transmission out?
I think I saw some post(s) on TDIClub forum, but without details.

Yes but it's tight and I believe you have to loosen the axle for clearance. You support the trans and there should be enough to just barely fit a wrench in there and slide the DMF out.

I have done it. You will scratch your arm up working the flywheel bolts, so wear something protective. You have to completely remove the drivers side drive shaft to get room to move the gearbox out.
