Display for Gear (Manual) You Are In

It would be nice for the MFI display to have a feature that instantly told you what gear you were in. I have a 2010 TDI Golf with a six speed manual transmission. I didn't see such a feature. I'm not missing it am I?

I dunno... my shift indicator does strange things. I wish I can turn it off. I need to double check, but sometimes when I'm in a lower gear, say 3rd, it's indicating an up arrow with a 5 or 6. It fluctuates/blinks too much every time I glance at it. I'm still getting used to all the electronics. It's the first car I have owned with power windows, etc... what an upgrade!

BTW, this car shifts so smooth with a light clutch, that it doesn't even seem like I'm driving a MT.
