The boot on my cv joint is ripped and I would like to replace it. Where could I get the best price on

a new cv shaft? I have a 2005.5 jetta tdi automatic and it is the driver side.

Thanks in advance.

IMHO, I would not replace the entire axle. If the bearings are bad I would replace only the CV joint. If the boot is torn but hte bushings are good I would just replace the boot.

VW axles are higher quality and better balanced than aftermarket parts. You can buy a brand new axle from the local parts store for around 50 but I wouldn't.

Although if you're dead set on swapping axles, go with either a Raxles or The Driveshaft Shop part. They are superior to the OE, but they cost. I snapped an OE shaft on my JSW, went with a TDS X4 shaft. Cost $400.
