Complete waste of money. In fact they can damage your turbo compressor (erosion) because they don't filter as well as your factory filter.

That's true, I've watched a youtube video by the buy, who installed a CAI onto the turbocharged VW Golf. He ended up with chips inside of the engine, and somewhat dirty throttle body.
Yet I believe the problem is more about the CAI care. You know, you will have to wash it with the special liquid once per month or so, I believe. And if you do that. I'm sure it won't be a prob.
As for me, I am nort ready to deal with this hassle, so I do not consider such an upgrade, at least not on a tdi.
