I have a 2005.5 jetta and when you try to take off it has a clutch shudder and when you come to a stop with the clutch in or out it has a body vibration. Could this be the dmf going bad? can you check this somehow? Thanks for any info.
Without removing the transmission, it's hard to check. If you see black grease coming out of the bellhousing that isn't oil, maybe. What is your overall mileage?
When I bought mine, the transmission-shifter shuddered when moving from a stop but there was no unusual vibration when stopped. A new flywheel and clutch fixed it. I would use a single mass flywheel because it's cheaper and engages smoother. Yes it will rattle slightly at idle but IMHO, it's well worth it.
