Hi Guys/Gals... I have a problem with my 2010 VW Touareg TDI wth 7,300 mle on the clock.

Yesterday I got this message that said "Check Coolant / Owner's Manual" on the MFI display. Went out and purchased a gallon of "VW Coolant Antifreeze" (part # G012A8G1G). This morning I proceded to top it off and it took the whole gallon before reaching "Max Level". Took my dogs out to the DogRun (30 miles round trip) and before I got there, the message "Check Coolant / Owner's Manual" re-appear, once I got home I checked to see if the Coolant was at it's maximum level and it was not.

Is it possible that more Coolant Fluid is required?

The car is always garaged and I've never seen any kind of leaks/fluid on the floor.

I got advise by some friends on the other forums that the "Water Pump" is difective requiring towing the vehicle to the dealership.

My question at this point is... Would it be safe to fill the tank with coolant and take the 1/2 drive (25 miles) to the dealership?

Post moved to Touareg section.

It was probably concentrated, the ratio is about 40% distilled water, 60% coolant. 50-50 if the car only sees warm temps. Why didn't the dealer add the fluid? There must be a leak somewhere that has pink crusty buildup around it. Either that or it's burning coolant. Even if it's not full, as long as you can see coolant in the tank I wouldn't worry about driving 25 miles. Just add some distilled water. You do want to keep an eye on the water temp though.

I'm sorry to say there is definately something wrong with it if you added a gallon of coolant and it lost it somewhere. I would ring the dealer and tell them whats happened and that you are going to put just water in it to get it back to the dealer as the antifreeze isn't cheap. They can flush it and refill it after they have sorted out where its going too.

They should refund you or give you some more antifreeze for your trouble. Did you keep the receipt? ;)
