walked out to my 2002 Passat 1.8 this morning and ... nothing... doors wouldnt unlock w/the fob. unlocked with blade and ...nothing... car wouldnt start. all interior lights work, radio, headlights, etc but no windows/sunroof/trunk latch/or ignition.

tried jumping it with a box and another car, changed the battery in the remote and... nothing...
It's like the car thinks its being stolen.

From what I've read it seems to be due to the CCM, located under the driver's seat. Is this something i can buy and replace or does it neeed to be flashed/programmed/etc @ the dealer?
thanks in advance to those with larger VW-based craniums than mine.

This sounds like a CCM problem. It doesn't need to be flashed but the part number has to be the same and it has to come from a same body style.

For example, if you have a sedan, the replacement has to come from a sedan. I don't know about trim level but I think it should not make a difference. Not sure that that one though.

Take a look at the CCM removal writeup in the B5 Passat FAQ, good luck and if you find anything out, please share!
