hello, I have just bought myself a stolen/recovered cabby. lock was smashed but all the immobilizer reader coil was all still intact . I bought a new lock and key off fleabay and have taken the car to my local vag dealer but are telling me the key and the immobolizer wont pair. So I think I will just go around the vdo unit. I presume there will be a wire from the imo. unit to the ecu that has to be powered up. Has any one done this to immo2 system and does this model have a status light in the instrument cluster (same as a mk3). regards robbiem

It doesn't work like that in the newer car. There's no wire to jump to bypass it. It's in the instrument cluster and ECU. You can remove it through chip tuning but there's the cost issue. Why did the dealer tell you it won't pair?
