No remorse! What you are experiencing is really easy stuff to fix and get the car working perfectly.
Air in fuel: usually comes from the "T" shaped valve on the top of the fuel filter. I'd put in a new fuel filter and replace the o-rings on the valve. These are usually included with the filter. Or, replace the T valve.
Black oil: chitty said it already, this is a diesel, happens immediately, very normal, but the soot, which causes the oil to turn black, puts different stress on the oil, so its important to use a diesel specific oil.
Limp mode is easy to fix if you want to do some R&R on it.
