Hi there,
In the "2005.5-2006 VW Jetta TDI timing belt job - part 1- removal (BRM engine)"
show how to remove the engine mount. I just wonder is this a must step or optional. Can anyone help to clarify this step ?
Thanks

Will move to the mk5 forum.

I'm 95% sure yes. You can slip the belt off but I don't think there's clearance to replace the rollers and water pump. I think you might be able to slip the belt off but it's a moot point since the rollers and water pump should be replaced.

If you do remove it obviously support the enigne! The aluminum engine mounts also tend to strip so be careful to not stress it too much.
