Beetle Driver Chair question

My driver's chair doesn't open forward anymore. Is there a simple fix, or do I have to replace the entire chair?

Don't know but my guess is that the tilt forward mechanism could be fixed.

First disconnect the negative side of the battery and step on the brakes a few times to discharge any stored electricity in the system.

Then remove the seat. The tilt forward mechanism could be accessible in the bottom but I don't know. It could also be in the back. Here are some tips on removing the seat: it's for other mk4 so your seat may be slightly different.
