hi just purchased a A6 tdi on 2005 with failed oil pump ,car switched off as soon as light came on.is it poss to get away with balancer shaft and pump, yet to check turbo condition seems to be a bit of a common fault .
Did the previous owner have this problem which is why they're selling it or did you just buy it and driving away it came on? Can you return it?
IMHO, pull some of the main bearings and at least take a look. If they're good I'd say just replace the pump module and you should be fine, if they're bad, consider inspecting the rest of the engine. Also check the camshaft because those are lubricated by oil too.
purchased car as non runner, at time did not relise they suffer so bad. looks like in for some man hours, almost tempted to remove engine and have a full investigation. good job car was on cheep side, was expecting a grand to put right. thanks for help.great site
