Hello ya'll,

I am trying to figure out how the crank sensor works on the VW 2.0L PD. It has the pickup for the crank signal within the rear main seal. Is there a way to find out how that signal works and how many notches it is reading, and what voltage and/or frequencies are passing through each wire.

I think some of the newer Gen 5's are also using a simular crank pickup. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a picture of a 2.0L crank speed wheel. It's a BHW engine but the part number is the same. The sensor that reads it most likely also the same. The part number for the wheel is VW# 038 105 189 b

As the wheel spins past the sensor, it creates a voltage by inductive current.
