Any members from northern New York? We may be able to help each other and avoid the VW dealership on costly repairs which are not completed to standard.

Ed Karpinski's "Marcellus Street Garage" in Syracuse has an excellent reputation - for those things you don't feel comfortable doing yourself... However, since you're able to change your own timing belt system, I don't see your needing to farm too many things out... (sort of the way I am... I'll occasionally take it into a trusted mechanic in Toronto for certain things... BTW: we once needed to have the car taken to Caprara's when we cracked the oil pan... yes, there was an aluminum skid plate on the car... just hit it in the wrong spot...)
