Hi folks, ive got skoda superb 2007, with 2.0 tdi , 8 valave engine , engine code BSS. it is hard to start and have terrible sound out from engine. Very little power also. Trying diagnose the failure of components, before strip engine, any idea what it could be ? No oil warning, no faults on diagnostics. Attaching video. Maybe someone would give a hint what would be faulty.

Thanks

I have figured out thats BSS engine.

So far discovered that camshaft has to be replaced and tapets, i believe camshaft bearings also need to be replaced.

Havent took oil pann yet, due bad weather, but thats on cards, remove oil pann, check bearings there, also check oil pump. When last time started car, no oil warnings on dash, also diagnostics didnt show eny warning. So oil pump probably already been replaced by previous owner, or it is on last legs, but will be checked closely.

Next question- where to buy new propper BBS engine camshaft , tappets , camshaft bearings. Does anyone know part numbers ?

Thanks.

What did you use to scan your motor VAG-VOM\VCDS?

Its not a Skoda but the principle is the same. VW and Audi TDI camshaft inspection and replacement - SOHC PD engine

Manufacturer: Skoda, Date(s) Used: 10/2005-03/2008, Model: Superb, Engine Code: BSS, 103Kw, 140PS, 2.0 Ltr, 4 Cyls, Remarks: EU4, Turbocharged Direct Injection Pumpe Düse (TDI-PD)

ETKA shows:

Camshaft BSS, BWW 2.0 TDI-PD BSV, BPZ 1.9 TDI-PD - 038 109 101 AH - £660.55
Tappets 35mm 8 off - 038 109 309 C - £31.56
Camshaft bearing shell yellow 10 off - 038 103 673 C GLB - £9.76

Just google it these part numbers.

I've just checked the same parts on a 2006 Jetta USA 1.9 TDI-PD BRM and the part numbers are exactly the same.

Try darkside developments in the UK, they do various kits

Also worth checking with the dealer. A friends skoda roomster engine took a dive but skoda covered 60% of the bill because the oil pump failed and it was a known issue so worth checking.
