I just got mine as well! Thanks for the great FAQ, it was extremely helpful in choosing between the Audi or the VW. I went with the GOLF TDI. So far I'm thrilled about my purchase. I couldn't find anyone with xenon lights in town though, so I decided to go without. I've been looking into doing the retrofit and I know it's expensive, but does anyone know if the leveling function works in a retrofit? Is the harness "plug n play" or is it different?

Also is the fancy touch screen stereo worth anything on the open market? I'd like to upgrade to the RNS unit.

Oh and they left the suspension blocks in on mine as well. The salesperson noticed that the ride was too harsh and had them take them out before I received final delivery. I'm glad dealerships are bothering to go over the checklists these days =(. I think one of the problems with this particular car is that they sell as soon as they hit the lot. The two the dealership had that I went to this weekend were both delivered this week and both already sold.

Well I think xenon lights are defintiely worth it. The difference is quite extreme! It's a lot considering the dealer option, but not so much considering what high quality xenon retrofits actually cost. It's all relative I suppose and I'm sure the halogen housings might be worth something on ebay.

How do I get the code? From VCDS/VAC-COM? I remember my previous audi's sometimes had a sticker in the manual.

I think it's entirely possible that you did. The right quality is actually quite good in my 2010 golf. The blocks make it harsh, but not so much that you'd instantly think somthing was wrong, just that it was "sporty". It's funny you mention the checklist. I don't think they're marking it off at all and I did not pay for any prep. I can't remember the last time I actually saw a dealership supply any kind of mark off list with a new car sale or let alone update the manual with the stamps the factory says they're suppose to do. That's the current service industry for you. =T
