Hello experts i'm after some help.

After 5 years of trouble free motoring the turbo has gone on my year 2000 Tdi Golf 90 bhp engine code ALH.
So i need to get a replacement turbo, i've been told by a friend who works for a VW main dealer that the part number is 03G253016K , but everywhere i ring tells me that this turbo fits on the 110 bhp. So my question is does this turbo fit my car and what is the garret part number.

Thanks or your time Mass

Either will work. Are you sure the turbo is gone? Most of the time it's just another problem. What are your symptoms?

Car smoking badly and a serious metal on metal sound, i think the bearing or shaft has play.

Do you think i should go for recon or risk a 2nd hand one?

IMHO I would go with a new turbo. It's not worth risking it since an oil leak can lead to a runaway. Maybe it's burning oil somewhere else and you have a bad wheel bearing?

The noise was definately the turbo and the oil burn was enough to drain the sump and cause serious smoking.
