I only have lobe wear on lobe #1 all the other lobes appear ok.
What is acceptable as far as worn down chamfer or edge on the lobe?
Do I really need to replace my camshaft with this little wear on lobe 1.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks
Elmo

Its hard to say from those pictures Elmo as the light is shing in the wrong place. If you say its only one cam thats worn you really need to measure the lift with a Dial Test Indicator (DTI) and compare the lift on the bad one with the others. ;)

How bad is the lifter? Acceptable is no wear since once the surface is worn it wears faster...

How lucky do you feel punk :D I'm not calling you a punk, it's the line from Dirty Harry....but seriously, if you feel lucky, polish the lobe, change the oil and only use 5w-40, and hope for the best. Otherwise you'll wish you had Dirty Harry's .44 magnum to shoot the dang engine out of frustration and all the stuff you'll have to replace - at worst it jams a lifter and you'll need a new head. In the meantime the metal wear in the oil is bad for the turbo and other bearings.
