A simple test is to unplug the connecting cable. This should put the ECU in to the default mode. If the car runs the same or better, the MAF needs changing. I got mine at MJM Autohaus (if yours is a MK4 it should cost $84)

First thing you should never do it take your TDI to a dealership, they don't work on enough of them to know what they are doing. Find a local tdi guru and never go back to a stealership. tdiclub.com has a complete list of guru in your area.
