Hi I'm a happy owner of a 2006 Jetta TDI and am at 80K miles and need to replace the timing belt. I was hopeing to just change the belt but from what I am seeing it looks like I will need to do the water pump while I am at it, good times :) My mechanic quoted me $800 for the tune up but I have seen a couple kits for around $300 so if I can save a few hundred I am thinking that is the way to go I just want to make sure I don't get in there and realize it is to big of a job to do in the garage.

Happy driving all!

That is not a bad price if you don't have the tools or shop space. I rent the timing belt tools upon request so if interested, send me a PM. Yes you can do it in your garage.
