Hello, I am a new user.

I own a VW Transporter T4 Van.

My gear is a VW 02B, in my case CCY type.

Do you know if, in a 02B Gear box, to change the 5th gear from Z=0.7 to 0.694 ,
I can just swap to the 02G311361G gear i.e. from 45 to 49 tooth ?

Basically I have VW Transporter T4 with a standard VW 02B Gear (CCY type gear)
with the 5th gear Z= 34:45 = 0.756

I did see that in the Vw T4 TDI (EEZ / DQR gear), year 2000 ,
VW used the same 02B type gear but, for the 5th gear Z=34:49 = 0.694

I do know that many people change the Z to 0.68 of the 5th gear installing 2 gear pieces (small and big pinion) and the gasket of a different (02J) VW gear.

As I did notice that actually the same 02b needs only the 49 tooth gear

I am wondering if it will be ok to change only the 5th gear big 49 tooth pinion without replacing both 34 and 45 tooth gears..but only one installing the pinion: 02G311361G

What do you think?
In case kindly let me know. Thanks !

Max.

Thanks

Thanks a lot for your welcome and suggestions. I will try to find out.
After installing the turbo it will be useful to have a longer 5th gear.
Thanks again!
