I just got back from a trip: Charlotte to the Rockies and back. I got 47 mpg for the trip. How are others doing?

About average. I get 48mpg on average each week in my 96(B4) Passat. I have 2 2000 Jettas, haven't checked mileage in either yet(wife and daughter drive them)

47mpg US isn't to bad Jeff it all depends on your typical weekly running mine is 70% local 30mph area running? Our UK fuel is a lot more expensive than yours?

Just filled last night, 615 miles, 12.25 gallons, 50mpg. I would say 25% country miles on my 125 mile commute. Had the same stats on my jetta before this. Both mk4s 5spd.
Still better than my friends Prius at 37MPG.

Jeff04TDI;
I haven't seen any difference with AC, but the answer is 50/50.
Did you see the Mythbuster's episode where they tested a Ford F150 milage? One ran with AC and the other suffered with all windows down. AC on was more efficient. Wierd!

KeithUK;
Change jobs just because of 125 mile round trip? In this economy, I'll stay put and suffer.
