Hello. I have recently had problems with the A/C stopped blowing cold air. I took it to my local mechanic and they said it was the a/c compressor and the repairs would be $1200 to fix. I saw a video on youtube that they just replaced a small part on the compressor and it worked after. Is this possible for my car and is there another fix for this issue of the hot air.

Return control valve is probably what you are talking about. Research rcv valve.

Yes, try the valve first. You’ll have to evacuate the Freon, change the valve, then refill it, but if it is the valve, you saved about a grand. An A/C shop or a good local mechanic might be able to do it for you. Worth a shot, fixed mine!

Ac shops seem to have settled and gotten the general public used to 8-1000 for ANY repair. Freaking ripoff. Good luck with the valve replacement.
