I just picked up a 2012 VW Golf TDI w/ Tech Pkg 4dr 6M in Graphite Blue Metallic last night!

  • The Xenons do have LED DRL
  • There are NO LED taillights
  • Includes KESSY! (Keyless Ignition)
  • 17-inch Salamanca wheels
  • Sunroof
  • RNS-315 Navigation Radio
  • Dynaudio premium sound system
  • Titan Black Cloth Interior
It is going to take me a while to learn how to use the stereo/nav unit! So far, so good. It is very nice and fun to drive! What a joy to drive vs. my old Toyota Matrix XRS 6M!

zweeks can you take a picture of the rear license plate light at night? I've heard VW may have replaced those with LEDs on the 2012 GTIs and Golfs.
I think that this can be changed using VAG-COM? The dealer should also be able to do it, but I think that they'll charge you for 1 hour of labor for a 5 minute job?
You're right, the dealer should be able to do it. However, when I took my TDI in for its 10K service, the dealer said "no-can-do."

Just find someone in your area with a VCDS if the dealer won't do it for you.

I was just playing with this, and the MFI still displayed speed in MPH but the consumption numbers are in km/l. I must be missing something. I'll check the manual some more. Sorry.
On the 2011's in the trip computer there is an option to show "alternate speed" I think. This will give you km/h right above the odometer in the center display.

First:

Result (Note that with this ON you cannot get the MPH to show up in a larger number above it):

zweeks - Gorgeous Car - Sounds like you made a good deal. Like you I was totally blown away by the ride of these Golf TDI's. Enjoy :)
Thx TDIStevestr,

That solve my question and hopefully that 2012 is the same.

Do you have a body kit on the car. Your front and rear doesn't look anything like the 2012's I've seen on the dealer lots... I like the look of your car much better!

No body kit - everything is stock for a TDI Tech Pkg. Not sure what you might have seen that looks different? I think that you'll see other pics over on VWvortex that might help??

Sorry work has been crazy busy lately. I'll have to check the km/hr display.
no sweat! Thanks for any confirmation that I can get. :)
Nice Ride.
I mentioned to a friend with an 06 Jetta TDI that I am close to buying a 2012 Golf TDI and he mentioned that the new TDI's have problems with the HPFP.
Does this issue cause any concern for any of you or has it been blown out of proportion?
Would the HPFP be covered under the 5 year 60,000mile powertrain warranty?
It's covered under the warranty as long as the dealer doesn't accuse you of putting gas in the tank, which has happened.

There are some problems on a few cars and my best GUESS is that it's due to poor robustness of the pump due to poor fuel quality in the US combined with poor design. The pump design has been revised a few times but it could be to make it cheaper/easier to build or improve the robustness. Nobody outside of VW and Bosch knows what the pump design changes are and for what purpose. The lower quality fuel in the US vs. Europe doesn't help either. A biodiesel 2% or lubricity additive for the first few years should help protect the pump.

Then again, your 06 Jetta has camshaft and flywheel problems that most likely, every car will see. The HPFP is only a few cars. So trading one issue for another :)?

This description is spot on for my 2012 Golf TDI w/Tech Pkg! The km/h display is rather small, but it's there!
2 cents: the photos posted are the difference between my ordering the BGM and just taking a 2011 candy white (my second fav color) the dealer had on the lot.

The configurator on the VW website doesn't do justice to this color.

So either; thanks, or thanks for helping me spend more money! :)

My rear license plate lights are definitely LED lit.
Is the radio HD capable? I read the FAQ and it said that the RNS315 isn't HD ready.
GOLF TDI Xenon

It would really be nice if someone who owns the new Golf TDI w/Tech package (XENONS), could post a picture with LED DRL ON! I know they are cool very different from audi and the other copiers... my two cents
