I just picked up a 2012 VW Golf TDI w/ Tech Pkg 4dr 6M in Graphite Blue Metallic last night!

  • The Xenons do have LED DRL
  • There are NO LED taillights
  • Includes KESSY! (Keyless Ignition)
  • 17-inch Salamanca wheels
  • Sunroof
  • RNS-315 Navigation Radio
  • Dynaudio premium sound system
  • Titan Black Cloth Interior
It is going to take me a while to learn how to use the stereo/nav unit! So far, so good. It is very nice and fun to drive! What a joy to drive vs. my old Toyota Matrix XRS 6M!

Looks good! If you don't mind me asking what was the final price? Are they willing to deal on the 2012's much?
It qas a unique situation I think? I used the PenFed buying program and got $300 below invoice on a 2011 TDI in April, but I had to order the car from the factory due to model scarcity. Two weeks after ordering the 2011 VWoA cancelled 2011 orders and changed my order to a 2012 Tech Pkg. I had to pay more money for the 2012 because there are a few options in the 2012 that I did not originally want but was forced to buy. My dealer honored the PenFed discount off of invoice for the 2012. I had to wait about 105 days for the car to arrive.

What are the odds that the 2012 model allows you the option of disabling the anti-theft alarm confirmation beep? I'd trade up to a 2012 for that feature alone.
I think that this can be changed using VAG-COM? The dealer should also be able to do it, but I think that they'll charge you for 1 hour of labor for a 5 minute job?

To OP,

Can you check if the onboard computer can display the KM/H option?

Thank you in advance.
Yes, the onboard computer can display km/h (speed) and km/l (consumption). I didn't drive around with the car using these options, but will try it over the weekend. In my wife's Tiguan I remember that I had the same options available, but when I actually went to use them on a trip to Montreal that the values were not displayed like the default US speed/consumption (smaller & harder to read than the default values)? I'll check for you later... sorry.

zweeks,
We ordered one too and I'm curious to know more about the KESSY system. My wife wants to know if it can be "turned off." I assume she wanted to know if there was an actual ignition where you can insert the key if you don't want to use the push button start. Also, can you post a pic of the key fob? Thanks again.

I was just playing with this, and the MFI still displayed speed in MPH but the consumption numbers are in km/l. I must be missing something. I'll check the manual some more. Sorry.

schhim,

The key fob looks just like every other recent model VW key fob. There is no ignition key, and no dedicated place to 'hang' the keys? My wife was joking that we should use on of those 3M command strip hooks right near the start button to hang the keys.

I just picked up a 2012 last night with the sunroof/Nav package to replace my 2010 that had been in a collision. I also negotiated $300 below invoice initially using a buying service. Virginia dealers can charge hefty doc fees, so I negotiated $100 over invoice out the door + taxes & tags. Vehicle was ordered at the beginning of may and just got off the boat two Thursdays ago. Several dealers in the area were willing to match or better the offer, so they must be desperate.

To scooter617,

Would you mind to PM me the final cost break down of your newly purchase dub?

Thanks.
