I'm considering buying an A3 tdi. The car has 60k miles and good maint. history. I don't want to buy a car that is not dependable, so would like advise on what to expect in maintenance cost and if well maintained it would be a reliable car. I keep reading horror stories on the VW TDI problems and do not want a problematic car. Thanks in advance for your help. Tom

Forum Rules and Guidelines

This is a new forum layout which is owned by a company last year that doesn't give a dam with loads of bugs which have been reported in the new thread. There is no TDI Wiki at the moment or original similes. It doesn't show the car spec/location.

Add your car specs to your signature that will show on every post you make.

We Are Live - Community Feedback

This has been talked about many times.

I've made a poll which no one has posted in, there are a few votes and comments.

Do you like the new forum features?

Wiki pages have been restored as of 7th December, I asked where is the link it should be on top of the main forum.

There is no buyers guide until TDI Wiki is restored..

Which engine are you thinking of 1.6 or 2.0 TDI?

If member who have one can give their comments.

What are your driving at the moment?

Hey Tom,

At 60k miles, IMO, I would say you have a pretty significant number of miles before problems start creeping up. It seems once you get to 130 to 140k, you can start needing to fix things even if the car is well cared for. Somewhere in this disaster of a new layout is a buyer's guide for these cars and things to look out for but as keith said, it is probably not available.
