The 2010 Golf buyer's guide is now a seperate article from the 2009 vs 2010 differences. This is because there was too much info to put into 1 article and it's just better organized this way. If you're looking at a 2010 Golf, knowing what was on the 2009 isn't very relevent. Invoice and dealer price will be posted once the information becomes available. Some additional info has also been added such as exterior dimension and coefficient of drag comparison.

Below are both articles.

I notice that this document now says that the 2010 Sportswagen can now be ordered. Are there any recommendations on how to do this? I assume through a dealer (if one can find a good one).

Also, the section with "ordering and pricing" charts (tagged with a Canadian flag) doesn't list "Salsa Red" as a color option. I was aware from earlier notes that the "Laser Blue" color was being replaced with the "white gold" but I thought that we'd at least retain one color choice. Is the omission of "salsa red" only a Canadian loss or will it also be lost in the U.S. (I am so tired of all the colorless automobile choices these days: black, white, grey, silver, beige, etc.)

Yes, 2010 Sportwagens can now be ordered. The car is now in the order banks. Some dealers/salepeople are just more knowledgeable than others.

However, they haven't been built, priced, or optioned. Pricing is just estimated. The difference between this and putting a deposit on a mystery car is that the car is in the order banks. Because of this, be careful to not put down a deposit without an actual order. As more info such as pricing comes out the article will be updated.

I don't know why the Canadian spec sheets says no red, it could be a typo. It doesn't make any sense. And there's no white gold option either. And the black is now Deep Black Pearl. The document is dated 7/2009 so these could be new changes since the preliminary specs came out.

Thanks! I was looking at your spec sheets and wondering why the options are so different in Canada? Wouldn't it be cheaper to build the same cars and ship them to both countries?

Canada is a different country and VW Canada is a totally seperate company from VW America. They even still sell the old mkiv Golf and Jetta there as the city Golf and city Jetta.

Whaddya know! That's actually pretty cool - the headlights look funny though. They should offer the CRD engine in an old 2 door mk4 Golf, that should get super mileage and power!

FYI, as of today, pricing has not been annouced at all. I saw a post on edmunds which gave pricing even down to the single digit. I am 99% sure this is incorrect since not even dealers know. And until the cars are for sale, pricing is not official.

2nd, there are currently no delays in production. I saw a post elsewhere which said they were delayed until 2010, this is definitely false.

The vortex forum said that you can order a 2010 GTI or 2.5L Golf but not the TDI. And the GTI and 2.5L Golf have no official pricing even though you can order it.:dunno

That's strange - you can bet you're not getting a good deal if you put down money without even knowing how much the price is, lol.. I guess MSRP would be fair though.

I would not do that but if you want to be the first on the block to have something then you pay for it.

When official pricing is confirmed I will update the article.

That's weird, the manual Golf 2 door should be way lighter, why does it only get 1 mpg more? Maybe the bigger tire/wheel combo? Does it have different tuning?

No idea. The bigger wheels and wider, heavier tires could be part of it. I believe that the 2 door with manual transmission should be about 200 lbs lighter, add 4 doors and the DSG transmission and it weighs about the same as a manual Jetta.

I have been told I'll receive my 2010 Golf Sportwagen Highline on October 26th :) They still cannot tell me how much the final cost will be however. They do have my fully refundable $1000 deposit should I decide upon delivery that I don't want the car.

What kills me is why they cannot offer the HID lights even as an option.
I guess I'll find the part in the US and install them myself.

I ordered every option on the build sheet including the DSG. Bluetooth is apparently dealer installed along with tinted glass??? Pardon me? How 80's can we get here? Deep factory tint rocks - dealer applied stick-on film does not:umm

The dealer could also not tell me the style of the wheels, except to say that they'd be 17" in size.

I'll keep you all posted.

Some recent updates to the FAQ article: Factory bluetooth for the US was always confirmed but the official spec sheet had a reference to "high bluetooth" in the Tech option package. This might have been 9w3 bluetooth but it's confirmed that this is a mistake or change. Either way, all Golf TDI in the US will get low bluetooth, 9w2. This receives calls and lets you talk. You still have to use the telephone to place calls. 9w3 places calls and has a phonebook on the car.

Also, some production line videos have been added. Here they are anyways:
