Hi, i have a 2008 jetta 2.0t and just last week, I was driving the car and all of the sudden it stopped out of the blue, I tried ignitioning the car but it would not star at all, anything from the control panel lid up, just the daylight sign, radio, lights and windows seem fine just it didn't start, after a 1-2 minutes it started again, it did this 2 more times. 3 days later, it stopped again and it just did not want to start anymore. I has been sitting in my garage for the past week, I had to towed it to my house because I couldn't move the car and the closest dealership is 1 hour driving from my town, a mechanic told me it could be the key got un programed or the chip from the inmobilizer but he is not a VW certified tech and does not have the little VW computer thing. Any suggestions????? Please...

It is not the immobilizer. There is some other problem.

If the immobilizer goes bad while driving it will not stop the car. I have tried this by removing the immobilizer signal from the key with the engine running. Unless your mechanic has taken apart the key and tried it himself, he is misinformed.

If the immobilizer is bad, the engine will still start completely fine, it will just shut off after a second.

You have an electrical problem. Have you tested the electrical system?
