Replaced a blown Turbo 30 days ago. Replaced a blown Tranny with a re-build 15 days ago. Total $6,700.

Yesterday, engine blew a piece of the block out. Mechanic says VW will only replace with new and will not accept trade-out for a re-built....$7,000 for a new one "+" $3,000 for labor.

What the [email protected]$%^#&& !!!

Help on this topic would be appreciated....
Thanks.

How did it manage that? What have you been running it on? How can it blow out a piece of the engine block, is that even possible?

Do you have insurance? Train track time! Just kidding. Seriously though, where are you getting the car serviced? Maybe they are screwing with you. The turbo is often replaced when it's something else or could be fixed. Sometimes they do fail though, same with transmission. The manual transmissions have been pretty reliable except for the flywheel.

I have not heard of catastrophic engine failure on TDI except when modified or something really really big fails. Did you throw a rod or something?
