The mityvac works but I wish I had bought the hand pump version because it's portable. I looked for reviews of the mityvac 7400 and heard it was more powerful than the hand pump version. It's not. It just saves you the effort of pumping up the vacuum by hand which I don't think is worth the non-portability. It's lighter and simpler so hopefully it'll at least be more reliable than a hand pump which could leak.
It would have been a lot faster if the oil was hot but I only drove the car around the block and let it idle to lukewarm. I also spent some time fishing the tube around to suck out the bottom of the pan. It's hard to tell if the tube is touching the bottom or curled up into the air. It was pretty slow but I think I got almost all the oil out because I added about 4 liters.
The only thing I didn't show was sucking the oil filter housing dry. You should do this even if you don't do extraction.
