My A/C has not worked in my 2006 VW Jetta since I have owned it. I recently replaced the compressor valve and re-charged the system with 530 grams of refrigerant but it still is not working. When the switch inside is pressed on it runs for a few seconds then shuts off again. Something in the ECU is telling it to turn back off even though it has no fault codes. Looking for any suggestions or help.

Compressor turns on, not getting (actual) current feedback and don't know where the ECM reads this information from.

I have an mk4 but maybe similar issue. Same symptoms, happened to me twice.

For whatever reason, after a disassemble/ recharge, the high pressure side was tripping a too high pressure fault. You would think the liquid/gas would self distribute throughout the system, but I guess it doesn't always.

I can't remember the source of my info, from here somewhere I think.

With the engine running, AC unplugged from harness and dash control turned on, I put 12v jumpers from a battery directly into the compressor plug and let it run for a few seconds, seems like 30ish. I guess that moved the gas around the system enough that after that the AC worked fine.

I had a similar problem on a 2005 Golf, it was a bad fan. Also check the fuse box on top of the battery. Look and see if any of the connectors are getting hot and melting the plastic. I replaced the fan and also had to replace that fuse box and redo some of the wiring.

All great questions. Do you have the Climatronic Dual Zone control head?
What are your HVAC manifold LP-HP gauges reading when this occurs? Have you replaced the dryer?
Contrary to popular belief, the AC compressor and system is in a constant on state with a computer controlled valve (on the compressor) that varies the quantity of refrigerant to manage cabin cooling. Basically a computer controlled orifice valve of sorts. This valve cannot tolerate any contamination. Specifically, the desiccant leaking out of the dryer into the system, any atmospheric gas, other than R134A, contaminating the system or my favorite the leak stop that cause seals to swell and close to stop leaks… and the seal in the proportioning valve to detach and become unable to regulate refrigerant. That’s some mechanical issues you may relate to. Then there is the computer-controlled, electro-mechanical side. Aka CLIMATRONIC. Unless you have the basic HVAC twisty dials without LCD Temperature displays?

Both fans are good and start to ramp up when a/c switch is turned on. No burnt wires or blown fuses. Fan relay is also good.

A/C controls are standard twisty dials, dryer, condenser, expansion valve, and seals were also replaced when I replaced the valve. Evaporator was flushed, compressor was replaced at the same time but came with a defective control solenoid valve. System was vacuumed down for 45 minutes, leak tested for 45 minutes and vacuumed down and additional hour before it was charged with refrigerant.

Before the compressor kicks on high and low side gauges read 100 psi. When the compressor kicks on high side goes up to 225 low side goes down to 45 @ 104 degrees F ambient

There are no codes that show up on VCDS for the A/C system, however I do get some faults for my can-bus system for the power steering feedback. Below is the scan from my car

You are right, there is nothing useful in VCDS for your problem.

Did you add any PAG oil after your A/C flush and complete evacuation? did you add to your system?

sitting in a shaded area with an ambient temperature 103°F. Using that info…

The heat saturation pressure for R134A for
The Low side PSI at:
100°-105°F is 40-45 PSI. Which you meet.

The High side PSI at:
100°F is 315-325 PSI or at
105°F is 330-335 PSI. So you should see 325-330 psi for 103°F
What does your A/C Sticker say for max R134A capacity, under the hood,?
I think it’s 750 grams for this car.
