I bought the car last year and this is the first oil change i have done myself. The spring in the oil filter was not there. I was careful when i pulled it out to look for it but it was definatelly not there. Is there supposed to be one in this car?? If so should i still drive it? Put 6000 miles on it without it but not sure how important it is. Any info would help. Thanks!!

Yes. That is most peculiar. I do not see the spring listed as a spare part in the parts catalog. The part number for the oil filter housing is 045 115 389 j or 045 115 389 h.

The housing-block gasket is 045 115 441. A used one should be fine as well.
