My 2000 Golf will start right up but has zero power. No codes. When I get on it black smoke. I know there was a good write up on this once upon a time ago, mabe someone could give me the tread to that article or give me some pointers on where to start. Thanks.
Check for leaks in the hose going from the intercooler. I had the same problem. Lots of black smoke, no power, worse fuel economy. Rubber hose from intercooler had a rip in it. Replaced it and everything was back to normal in under 10 minutes. If your car RPM is revving high then it's not in limp mode which was what my car was doing. High RPM bit no power so it wasn't in limp mode
