1999 VW golf starts runs for few seconds and shuts off. I have changed fuel filter there is no air in fuel hoses. Then took of generator belt thinking that something is stuck and it works vithaut belt but nothing is stuck. Any ideas ?
Location: Lithuania, I don't know if your car has an immobilizer, do you see the car/key symbol on the instrument cluster?
Is the no start situation after changing the fuel filter? If so, there is still air in the fuel lines and it will take some cranking for the injection pump to purge out the air. One way to speed it up is to loosen the metal fuel line at the fuel injector slightly. Wrap it with a thick rag. Crank until wet. Do not use your hand since it's under pressure.
Is this the problem?
