When I put my key in the ignition of the car and turn it nothing happens. However, the car still recognized the fob in the car and the push to start button will work.

Any idea what causes this issue? Is there a fix for it using Vag-Com?

Thanks!

Check out these cases:
Weak Battery
Corrosion on battery
Weak key fob battery
Broken starter motor
Defective alternator
Clogged fuel filter
Fuel pump failure
Blown fuse
Defective spark plugs
Rodent damage
Engine failure

finquer forgot low tire pressure.

If the push button to start works and starts the car but key switch switch does not, the probable cause is the key switch needs replacing. This is not an uncommon failure

Interesting. Before I attempted to start digging into replacing the ignition cylinder I wanted to scour the forums first to verify it would be worth my efforts....

Would you happen to know if a new ignition cylinder will require new keys?
