Greetings all,

I am here because my TDI suddenly stopped running from a cruise-controlled 60mph on the highway. Was interesting. There was no noise, no indication of trouble, it just stopped running and coasted to a halt about a mile down the road like I had pressed and held the clutch.

That was 5 months ago. I tore it apart (finally) and discovered the crankshaft timing pully had stripped off a 10 inch or so strip of teeth from the t-belt. When I got the head off, there were no holes in the pistons. I had to look HARD to see any marks in the carbon where the valves and the pistons would have even met! I got out lucky!

Anyway, I bought all the parts and now I must reassemble this thing so, I am here to glean the knowledge of those who have done this job before me. :bowdown

Hi, welcometomyturbodies.

That sounds pretty amazing if you haven't done any damage, did you find the faq ok? There's a lot of various info in there including the timing belt guide.:)
