Hey, just "aquired" a 2002 jetta tdi. this girl needs some TLC. have read some really good posts. I'm really excited about this car. Got the engine running the other day. Rlay "109" replaced lol. The prior owner had some parts changed out, not sur about timing belt... But first things first. the car has no power at all, probably in limp mode? right? and tranny fluid? how do i check and or add fluid? I also think the mass airflow sensor is bad, looks original, very dirty. There is 3 green fuses on top of the battery in a junction box what do they service? :p well thats enuf rambling questions. I will keep reading and if any one has advice it would be awesome

check out the mk4 new buying guide.

if no power, check the low power checklist and start working through it.

Is it auto or manual? If auto, no dipstick.

I forget exactly what the battery fuses do but they're some main fusible links. If you google it you may find a bentley .pdf of your manual with fuse diagrams. I can't give it to you since they sell them, it's the official service manual.
