Hello. I an going to change my rear wheel bearing on my Audi a3 8p. It's a 2006 model .

I'm wondering if I need any special tool to get it off?
I have seen videos of people who just pull it off with hand force. Is it going to be like this?

I know when I replaced the rear bearing in my 06 Jetta last year, it required a triple square to remove the hub. I did not replace the bearing, just replaced the entire hub.

Okay. Did the entire hub and bearing come in one part or did the inner ring stay?

Looks like the one i have.
When you pulled it of. Did everything come off in one piece or did you have to do something Else?

It all came out in one piece. I have a pretty sensitive ear for such noises, mine had just started to go bad when I pulled it, easily could have driven it a while longer. The wiki here describes the process exactly.

I dont know how long my bearing has been bad but I noticed it last week and the sound is very loud right now. Will change it tomorrow.
Do you think it could be more difficult to remove if it has been bad for a while?

IMO, that is why you change the entire hub, it does not really matter what is going on in there, you are removing it anyway.

Yes you do change everything. But if it is defect and heat generates, I think the inner ring could "burn" to the axle.

Just changed it. I could just pull the bearing off with hand force. The hardest part with the job was to remove the dust cap. :)
