What does the manual call the self exhaust cleaning cylces in the manual? I would like to know often these occur. I know it depends on driving style but other vehicles with this set up states that the self cleaning cylces, regens, occur about every tank of gas. Thanks!

Maybe I should ask this a different way.

The diesel particulate filter that collects soot burns off the soot in what I call a regeneration cycle. I am trying to find out what Volkswagen calls it so I can look this up in the manual. I want to know how often the diesel particulate filter will go into regen cycle to burn off accumulated soot.

I don't have a new Passat but I'm guessing the owner's manual may not talk about it much. There is no service manual out yet.

But per the article and best guesses so far, it does an active regen when loading is beyond 45% or every 466-621 miles/750-1000 km regardless of loading.

Just do a search, as there are plenty of discussions here on the topic.
