My VW jetta TDI, 2004, went into limp mode on my way to work. It would come out of it on restart, and sometimes last a fe minutes, sometimes not. I took it to the dealer. They said there are turbo codes in the system. There was no smoke, and I could hear the turbo spooling. What shall I expect?

To pay alot! or give your first born if you have one.

They didn't say what the codes where? If its a overboost problem could be something simple as vac lines. Hard to say with out the codes.

They were nice enough to diagnose and give it back. It needs an EC Bypass Valve. I have no idea what that is, but I didn't have the 350 today, so I said no thanks. Any idea what that is, where i can get it, and how hard it is to replace?

The receipt said EC Bypass Regulator Valve. I called today and got the part number VW- 037906283D. It's called a solenoid valve. Part is 112 from the dealer. Any ideas how hard it is for a novice to put in with a basic complement of tools?

The part that pulled up when i google that P/N it looks almost like the N75 Solenoid on the Passat TDI. If it is that part it should be easy money to change. Tho i'm not sure on the acesseability to it on the Jetta. Should be a bolt or 2 holding (or nuts) it on, 2 vacuum lines and a connector.

I cannot post the codes it threw, because the dealer didnt know when I asked. They said the codes were for the turbo, and I paid them the diagnostic fee to determine it was that solenoid. Hopefully when the part arrives, it solves the issue.
