intermittent power

    hi, new member just had my tdi 130 diagnosed as faulty turbo,garage quoted £1200 to fix ,any cheaper alternitives as it seems to work ok sometimes and not others 17965 replace turboharger was on report at end of test advice please would be appreciated

    Welcome, check out the limp mode FAQ article and low power article, most of the time you can clean or fix hte turbo.

    after reading much about this problem,i removed turbo from car ,stipped and cleaned it,refitted but was disappointed that there was no improvement to performance,had the car re scanned for fault codes and 17965 was still the problem,repeated removal to double check that vnt ring and lever were making good contact all ok there ,bought a new actuator just to be sure,refitted turbo,same problem still there,read somewhere on this site that map sensor can give same symptoms,got one from vw dealer £45car now back normal .thanks for every post on here as it has heped me fix this problem,anyone who has been told new turbo reqd should chage senor with a known good one first it worked out good for me ,again thanks all who post here....

    Och aye the noo min, a fellow scot :D

    They garages can be a bit kak when it comes to these things, they just want to throw parts at the car at your expense, that's the beauty of these forums though, save you a bit of money for sure.

    freekin hunters of linlithgow,didnt bother wastin my time or breath tryin to get my 50 odd quid returned for wrong diagnosis,specialist vw independant!!!hoots man alnobeback...
